Группа образовалась в 1962 году под влиянием музыки The Beatles. Дебютировала в легендарном клубе Cavern. В конце 1962 года команда попала под менеджерскую опеку Брайана Эпстайна, но проработала с ним не долго - до апреля 1963 года. После чего началась их довольно успешная, не смотря на частые смены состава и названия самостоятельная деятельность, которая продолжается и по сей день.
